Old Barn IT

If you can remember Aztech Business Machines, then you'll remember me! For those who cannot, I offer a brief history.

In 1993, Aztech Business Machines was formed by my former business partner and myself to provide IT support and services to the Eastbourne area. Originally based in Church Street Willingdon, Aztech moved to a shop in Seaside Eastbourne in 1997.

The business was successful for many years and expanded into some potentially lucrative niche markets, including coin operated internet access points.

Tougher market conditions, and over-investment in non-productive technology forced Aztech to reduce costs in order to increase profitability. Eventually in 2001, Aztech moved from its shop into part of an industrial unit to reduce costs further.

It was decided in September 2003 that Aztech would become "home based", and would move out of the industrial unit. I personally disagreed with the decision as I felt it further compromised the service Aztech could offer, so I left the business.

I have spent the years since then working part-time in graphic design / typesetting / sign writing, and working as a self employed IT support engineer, "Colin Etwell Computer Services". I also spent  three years working as an IT Network Manager in a local school, managing over 500 computers and 18 servers, so I know my way around more complex systems, and even virtualized environments.

Old Barn IT has been the logical continuation of my IT path. The amount of private IT work I undertake, required a dedicated business, so Old Barn IT was born!
